Fast acting pelletised fertiliser delivered accurately for healthier soil that doesn’t cost the earth.

Small pellets, big impact

Optimise spreads evenly, stays put and breaks down readily to improve structure, biology and overall soil health.

Forget the big hit every five years. Smaller doses of pelletised fertiliser are the smart way to reach your pH target – and keep it there. Thanks to its concentrated form and accurate application, you’ll use less per hectare and see results fast.

What goes each pellet

High-quality fine lime and nutrients your soil needs

100% ultra-fine lime, pulverised to an average of 70 microns, is pressed into pellets that are easy to transport and spread using standard equipment.

Nutrients and fertilisers can be blended into the pellets for one-pass applications to give your soil precisely what it needs. Check out our custom options.

We use natural nutrients in their raw state, micronised to enhance their release and availability.

All our products are manufactured in New Zealand, AsureQuality Certified and biologically friendly.

A better bottom line

Many save 50% vs traditional AgLime and pay less for transport. See what savings you’ll make with our handy cost calculator.

Concentrated pellets spread accurately and are 100% utilisable to meet your soil targets and improve cash flow. We quote in hectares rather than tonnes because you won’t use as much.

Applying Optimise every 12-18 months is the best way to reach pH and calcium targets and maintain them. You can apply Optimise 2 or 3 times for the same cost as one application of AgLime.

How Optimise works

Easy to use, transport & spread

Optimise pellet burst

Fed up with trad AgLime that drifts away, spreads unevenly and takes years to break down? Optimise was invented to gain all the benefits of fast-acting fine lime, with none of the big drawbacks.

Finer lime means faster results. Smaller particles have more surface area, speeding up their impact on soil pH and structure. Pelletising ensures nutrients get to work right where you want them.

Calcium is vital for improving aeration, water filtration and allowing roots to penetrate deep into the soil. Soil biology responds to good soil structure and air spaces – when active soil microbes reuse and recycle plant and animal waste, fewer chemicals are necessary.

  • Increases nutrient availability
  • Improves soil structure
  • Stimulates soil biology
  • Efficiently hitting your soil’s target pH

Trial work shows a change in pH to an average of 0.2 per 250kg/Ha. You’ll see results within 6 to 12 weeks and Optimise will continue working for as long as your soil type and farming conditions allow. For trial data, click here.

“The ability to apply the right lime in the right place and its availability are its biggest strengths. We doubled up, combining sulphur with the lime to get the legumes really producing and set us up for spring.

How to buy Optimise

Available for delivery direct to farms, merchant depots or local freight companies. We can arrange delivery via your preferred transport company.

Minimum order 500kg. Contact your local farm merchant for 25kg bags.

Easy to use, transport and spread

Optimise is compatible with conventional ground spreading and drilling equipment. It’s ideal for spreading by air. As there's a lot less bulk, it ensures safe release for top dressing pilots.

The reduced volume means fewer trucks on the road too. You’ll pay less in transport costs and that’s better for the environment, too.

DIY applications are simple. Use tow-behind spreading equipment, just like applying Urea and reduce the heavy traffic burden of bulk trucks.

When and where to use Optimise

  • Which season to choose?
  • What types of farms?
  • Which types of soil?
  • What about rainfall?
Which season to choose?

While Spring and Autumn applications are the norm, Optimise gets to work any time the weather, ground conditions and soil temperatures permit or when the pilot has a window.

What types of farms?

Users include arable and pastoral farmers, high country stations and growers of all shapes and sizes. Optimise is ideal to use in built-up areas as dust disturbances are minimal. And it makes spreading fine lime accessible in hilly places. The pellets can be produced to meet organic specifications.

Which types of soil?

Soils that are sandy, silty and have a high clay content love Optimise. Increasing soil pH improves the availability of essential nutrients (including phosphorus and sulphur) and enhances biological activity. In very low pH soils (below 5.4) Aluminium toxicity can restrict root development, especially in legumes.

What about rainfall?

Optimise works in both high and low rainfall areas. In low rainfall areas, traditional AgLime is slow to react and break down. But Optimise gets to work quickly. A few morning dews help the pellets along for a readily available source of calcium and moisture retention is improved when it does rain. For soils in wet areas applying key cations (Ca, Mg, K & Na) little and often, replenishes what's stripped away and improves soil structure. Optimise is the perfect way to begin this process.

Nutrients
Fertilisers

We can blend fine lime with nutrients and fertilisers into stable, easy-spread pellets tailored to your soil needs. Our most popular blends are calcium with magnesium or sulphate. We produce gypsum and dolomite equivalents. The minimum order for custom blends is 500kg.

Custom ingredients include:

Sulphate

Phosphorus

Trace elements

(Se, B, Co, Cu, Zn, Mn, Fe, Mo)

Magnesium

Humates

Seaweed and bio-stimulants

Optimise pellets can be safely and conveniently blended with high-analysis fertiliser products like DAP and Urea. Optimise has a moisture content of less than 1%  and remains stable when blended.

High analysis fertilisers include:

Urea/Ammonium Sulphate

DAP/CAN

Potassium Sulphate/Chloride

AgSalt

Frequently asked questions

Is Optimise an organic product?

Yes, Optimise can be supplied with Organic Certification. Custom blends with qualifying inputs such as Sulphur, Magnesium, RPR, Guano Phosphate and more can also be produced, as required, to meet Organic specifications.

How can Optimise be more effective if less is used?

Our trials show Optimise at 250kg/ha is effective at shifting pH, increasing calcium and reducing aluminium levels. Compared to Aglime at 2.5t/ha.

Optimise is 100% utilised, which means you'll need less volume to cover the same area. We micronise lime to an average of 70 microns to maximise the surface area and effectiveness of the lime. Then, compress it into a pellet for even coverage and accurate placement, with less dust and drift - ultimately increasing the efficiency of fine lime with less volume. For more information, click here.

Lower volumes also mean less transport and spreading costs. In most cases, Optimise can be applied 2-3 times over for the price of 1 application of conventional Aglime.

I spread lime every five years; why would I apply Optimise more often?

Optimise gets to work quickly and reaches target pH levels faster. With lower volumes of lime applied more frequently, it is easy to maintain your soil pH, calcium and nutrient levels. And this means you can keep soil pH at a more constant and optimum level, rather than it dropping off as the 5-year period comes to an end.

Optimise is often applied 2-3 times over for the cost of 1 application of conventional Aglime – that’s better for the cash flow and as the soil.

Have you done trials into the effectiveness of Optimise?

Lincoln University have completed trials comparing Optimise with aglime. We have also undertaken (as part of a farm discussion group) on-farm trials for pastoral applications. The results show the comparative effectiveness of Optimise at 250kg/ha versus aglime at 2.5t/ha at shifting pH, increasing calcium and reducing aluminium levels. Canterbury University are currently using Optimise on forestry trials.

If Aglime lasts longer, why would I use Optimise?

Traditional Aglime takes longer to break down in the soil - if the larger rocks do at all. Optimise is 100% fine particle lime which breaks down rapidly with 100% utilisation. Therefore, Optimise is more efficient. You’ll see results within 6 to 12 weeks, and it will continue working for as long as your soil type and farming conditions allow.
