Small pellets, big impact

Equilise pellets are formulated for horse paddocks like yours. By correcting soil acidity and restoring key nutrients like calcium and magnesium, pastures become sweeter for healthy grazing your horses will love.

Pellets spread evenly to turn sour patches sweet

Works in 6–12 weeks to improve pH and palatability

Easy to use – DIY using conventional kit

Specifically formulated for grazing pastures

Made in NZ using natural, high-quality ingredients

Kate and Dudley Woburn

“Our thoroughbreds are passionate about good pasture and like to winter well. Annah came out to do a soil test to see exactly what was missing and gave us her best recommendation. Once the fertiliser arrived, it was a super easy process to apply with our tow-behind spreader.”

How Equi-lise works

All-in-one fertiliser for fast results

Hawea horsie

Over time, horse paddocks can become depleted in calcium and magnesium, lowering pH and creating sour pasture where horses don’t graze. Equilise helps rebalance your soil with an all-in-one blend of fine lime and natural nutrients.

We take pure, natural limestone and micro-mill it to an average of 70 microns, then press it into pellets for accurate application.

The pellets are designed spread evenly – putting you in control of where the lime goes and making sure the nutrients land where your soil needs them most.

The pellets break down quickly to improve pH, nutrient availability and soil biology – bringing to life your soil’s ecosystem and paddocks with stronger root systems and greener growth, because when your soil’s full of life, your horses will be too.

Equilise pellet composition

What goes into every pellet

Every one contains ultra-fine lime (70 microns on average), safely pressed together with the natural, biologically active nutrients missing from many of New Zealand's grazing pastures.

  • Calcium – lifts pH and improves soil structure
  • Magnesium – supports chlorophyll production and improves soil structure
  • Phosphate – stimulates root growth and pasture strength
  • Sulphur – improves protein formation and pasture uptake
  • Selenium – just a touch to support immune and muscle function

We only use the highest-quality ingredients, micronising them to enhance their release and availability. Pellets are proudly manufactured in New Zealand and can be AsureQuality certified.

100% natural, biologically active ingredients.

It's easy to apply

No hassle, no waste

You won’t need any special equipment. Equilise works with standard ground-spreading or drilling equipment. And DIY applications are simple. Our tests have shown the best rate is 250kg/ha or 100kg/ac. Whatever size your paddock, we’ve got you covered:

Small blocks

Use a walk-behind or tow-behind spreader on your quad or tractor. Turn the agitator off (it can crush the pellets), and set the rate to 250kg/ha (225 lbs/acre).

Big blocks

Equilise spreads easily with a bulk spreader and is ideal for aerial application on larger blocks.

Small areas

To target patches sprinkle by hand – just like you're feeding the chooks.

Equilise user
“Been bloody impressed with this product, I honestly didn’t expect to get the results I got because nothing else was working. I get rain, but not mud, so I applied it expecting it to disappear, but it didn’t. I could see it breaking down, but also the grass changing colour and growing. Now areas where my horse would refuse to eat, he’s now eating! You can see the difference between the area I did and the area I didn’t apply Equi-Lise. I’m getting more and even put my mum onto it, a great product for free-draining soil, that’s for sure!”

Timings and tips

Apply Equilise every 12–18 months to maintain healthy soil. For neglected paddocks or those under heavy grazing pressure, increase the rate to 500kg/ha or apply more frequently, for example, every six months.

You can apply Equilise any time of year, but Spring and Autumn are ideal. In some cases, two applications (Spring and Autumn) may be needed to restore pastures back to health, then an annual application is all paddocks require.

The pellets start breaking down as soon as they come into contact with moisture. You’ll typically see results in 6 to 12 weeks, depending on soil type and conditions. For best results, apply just before rain, or let morning dew kickstart the magic.

Our tests show lighter soils respond faster with smaller, more frequent applications. Heavier soils take longer to show results and may benefit from a larger initial dose.

Frequently asked questions

Is Equi-lise organic?

If this is a requirement for your property, we’ll make a batch of organically certified Equi-lise. Additional certification costs and minimum order quantities will apply.

When should I put my horse back in the paddock?

We recommend that you move your animals out of the paddock before you apply Equi-lise. Then move them back when you are happy the pellets have broken down enough. The pellets start breaking down as soon as they come into contact with moisture, and you’ll notice the pellets will be soft after a few days.

How much do I need for my paddocks?

Our recommended "rule of thumb" spread rate is 250kg per hectare (or approx.100kg/acre), so 1 tonne of Equi-lise is enough fertiliser for 4 hectares (or approx. 10 acres). See our handy table on the FAQs page.
